Directions to Hoedspruit

Directions from Johannesburg
Join the N12 and follow it to Witbank
The N12 joins the N4 which is followed to Belfast
At Belfast turn on to the R540 and follow it to Dullstroom and Lydenburg
Pass through Lydenburg and onto the R36 towards Origstad.
In Origstad follow the R527 over the Abel Erasmus pass and through the JG Strydom tunnel towards Hoedspruit.

Hoedspruit to Sausage Tree Tented Safari Camp
Pass through Hoedspruit and turn left onto the R40 (R530).
After 17km turn right into the Main Balule
Nature Reserve Gate.
Follow the Olifants road for +/- 4km then turn left at
Sable Road.
800m down Sable road you will reach the Sausage Tree turn off on your left. (Sign marked)
Follow the road for 300m to camp.

Climate

Sausage Tree Bush Camp in the Balule Nature Reserve is situated in the Eastern Lowveld (Hoedspruit) within the greater Kruger National Park, which enjoys a subtropical climate, with hot wet summers and moderate dry winters.

Spring & Summer
Over this time we enjoy many visiting migrant bird species, this is also the time of year that most larger mammal species give birth.

Spring (September to November)
Minimum; 20 degrees Celsius
Maximum; 30 degrees Celsius

Summer (December to February) 
Minimum; 20 degrees Celsius
Maximum; 35 + degrees Celsius

Autumn & Winter
During Autumn and Winter most of the trees lose their leaves, increasing visibility making it easier to spot animals.

Autumn (March to May)
Minimum; 20 degrees Celsius
Maximum; 30 degrees Celsius

Winter (June to August)
Minimum; 10 degrees Celsius
Maximum; 25 degrees Celsius

Terms & Conditions

  1. A deposit of 50% of the total daily rate for the duration of your stay is required to secure the booking.
  2. The balance of the total daily rate is payable 7 days before arrival.
  3. Additional costs for Drives & Walks are payable 7 days before arrival.
  4. Any other additional costs are payable upon departure.
    Due to the remote location of camp we have no card facilities available, only cash or bank guaranteed checks will be accepted.
  5. Sausage Tree Tented Safari Camp in the Balule Nature Reserve, its owners and staff can not be held liable for any injury or loss to person or property encountered during your stay or in your travels to or from the camp.

Cancellation policy

(Subject to change, it applies in all instances)

  1. Cancellation of booking must be in writing
  2. Cancellations are only effective on receipt of written notification.
  3. Cancellation prior to payment of deposit – no penalty
  4. Cancellation of booking after payment of deposit with more than 4 weeks notice – 20% of deposit is forfeited.
  5. Cancellation of booking after payment of deposit with more than 2 weeks notice – 50% of deposit is forfeited.
  6. Cancellation of booking after payment of deposit with less than 2 weeks notice – 100% of deposit is forfeited.
  7. If you change you’re booking: after your booking has been confirmed, should you wish to change to another date, you may do so, subject to availability.
